Biography
Mr. Kiobya is the founder and Managing Partner of MAK Africa Legal which he has headed since 2018. Mr. Kiobya is a long-serving legal practitioner with experience dating back 2003. Before founding MAK Africa, Mr. Kiobya served to a number of reputable offices including the Attorney General’s Office and American Embassy Dar Es Salaam.
Education
Mr. Kiobya has a Masters Degree in International law from Nottingham University (UK) (2007). He has also a Masters Degree in Intellectual property from African University Zimbabwe (2012) and has attended several shortcourses inside and outside tanzania on specialized areas. Mr. Kiobya is registered and member of the Bar of both Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar and also a member of Tanganyika Law Society; Zanzibar Law Society and the East African Law Society. His areas of specialization is corporate governance, Merger and Acquisation, intellectual property, real estates, company law, corporate finance, and commercial law.
Legal Experience
Mr. Kiobya has served as Legal Advisor and Company Secretary to a number of companies, including Mwanza Precious Metals Refinery Company Limited, Buhemba Gold Company Limited, Agroiris Company Limited and State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) an entity charged with overseeing government interest in the Mining Sector. Mr. Kiobya has also taught law at Zanzibar University where his area of research interest on intellectual property law.
